On Monday, June 13 the blog article “Who’s Backing Hacking” was published with a number of links to reputable sources that formed the basis of the article.
Midnight In Chicago was contacted by Yvonne Mikulencak, Executive Director of the Asperger Women Association USA to inform MIC blog readers that the AWA in fact, does not support the Gary McKinnon petition and campaign under the direction of Kevin Healey, founder of the Staffordshire Adults Autistic Society (SAAS), Autism Radio UK and, most recently, Action Autism UK.
Ms. Mikulencak contacted both the Staffordshire Adults Autistic Society (SAAS) and Kevin Healey earlier today. To make clear the AWA’s position on this situation, Ms. Mikulencak posted the email she wrote as well as the response she received from the Staffordshire Adults Autistic Society (SAAS) which was also copied to Kevin Healey by the SAAS.
Rather than have this important information lost in the comments of the previous blog article, Midnight In Chicago is re-posting the initial email Ms. Mikulencak sent today as well as the response she received. This is the email Ms. Mikulencak sent:
Dear Kevin and SAAS , We signed a petition but never agreed to a coalition. We also removed our support from Gary McKinnons case quite a while ago when evidence has shown Gary to be fully responsible for hacking a USA Government site as a mentally sound adult. Kevin Healey has removed himself from all association with AWA, when I refused to allow him a friendship request into my private facebook account. In fact, he became extremely hostile and removed all association with AWA at that time and myself. We assumed he removed us from the petition as well, but have since learned he has not but refers to us as a coalition. You are notified of our request to remove. if you do not, please have your legal team contact us. You do not have rights to our name or symbol without our continued approval. Yvonne Mikulencak, Executive Director AWA
The response from the Staffordshire Adults Autistic Society (SAAS) and copied to Kevin Healey is as follows:
Dear Yvonne
please see the email you sent Kevin Healey our Chairman, way back then you agreed for him to use your logo in an email to Kevin on the 09/08/2009 obviously you have forgot, we have been informed that you attacked our chairman
on various social networking site, we do not require any further emails from you, if we receive anymore they will be forwarded to our Legal team.
ALSO NOTE* other organisations have been removed as they didn’t actively be involved with the campaign just a name of there group or charity listed on that particular website, please read your email below that you sent Kevin!
PA to Kevin Healey
The comments section is open to those who wish to express their opinions about the situation as well as the emails written by Ms. Mikulencak and the Staffordshire Adults Autistic Society (SAAS) and copied to Kevin Healey. As always, Midnight In Chicago reminds those who post to this blog that our Posting Policy can be found in the sidebar on the right hand side.
At this time, Midnight In Chicago would like to reiterate that the opinions and points of view expressed by individuals posting comments to this blog are the opinions and points of view of the individuals who post.

They seem to be saying that they still require AWA’s logo, but they do not require mail from someone from AWA. The good news is that if AWA sends a second request, it will go to the SAAS legal team, which will almost certainly tell Kevin to take down the logo immediately. So no worries.
